Trick or Treating...

Sleeping Beauty first went to MM's work to see if she could get some candy if she asked nicely.

Cinderella followed Sleeping Beauty very closely and learned quickly.

The two princesses had some friends that they accompanied to this festivity, a witch, a doctor, a fairy princess and Mr. Incredible.

Preparing for the long walk around the neighborhood.

R, the wonderful guide to the neighborhood who helped us keep up the pace and inspect the candy. Thanks a bunch R!!

Pumpkin Decorating...

Getting ready...

SD started with purple.

SV's final version (only because I took away the paints).

E & M with their pumpkin (there's lots of glitter on the top and back).

R had some help from his dad, but E got to pose. R loved the silver glitter glue to help decorate his spider. He did not like the "guts" of the pumpkin though.

Jumping on the tramp...

M, SD, R & SV playing on the tramp and acting silly.

They were all trying to jump at the same time. It was super fun to watch them try to coordinate it all.

M and SV cheesing it up!

SD & R wanted their picture taken too.

M showing off her big grin and Dora shoes!

Fun with cousins...

I & E are two of the 3 (missing S) 3rd cousins that we LOVE to visit when we go to UT. We often spend hours at their house letting the kids run amuck...without much remorse. I love to catch up with A (the mom & 2nd cousin to J) and realize that I miss her too much.
SV was desperately trying to get on the swing with the bigger girls.

After the girls switched swings, they all fit (briefly), but enjoyed making the swingset wobble. It's always fun to be around family and watch the girls play.

SV is the youngest out of the girls, so she often does things by herself. She totally enjoys hamming it up with the camera though.

SD's favorite thing to do here is to play dress up. This was the 3rd outfit, I think, and it didn't stop there. There are sooooo many options at the house.

SV playing on the couches.

SD, S, E & SV (while their brother was napping) sat down to watch a movie while A & I continued to talk. It's amazing how fast our families have grown (both in numbers and size). We hope they know how much we enjoyed the visit.

E's Birthday Party...

This is my BFF (hahaha) E in her beautiful Cinderella Princess Dress. She had a very special birthday this past week and we (lots of people involved) threw her a surprise party. This included our family driving to UT, me taking her to get her hair, makeup and toes done, me taking her to dinner (all the while, our families and a few friends were decorating and getting the house ready for this special occasion), and then me getting her back to the house WITHOUT her suspecting. I even got a pedicure and a manicure too (tough job, I know). Anyway, her hubby wanted her to be a princess for the night, so that's how the story began...he rented the costume and had it waiting for her when she arrived at the party. She was SUPER surprised and so excited. It was well worth the work and, I hate to admit, the lying.

E with her daughter M...both dressed for the occasion.

R, E's son as Mr. Incredible...he wanted to dress up too.

E's hubby, M, enjoying the decorations that doubled as props for the kids. Can't you tell he had the time of his life? Just kidding, he was enjoying himself, just doesn't look happy in many pictures.

J & I (self-portrait), which is one of the better pictures of us recently.

SD filling J's boots...

It's been a while since we left TEXAS, but J still gets his boots out to wear. After work he took them off and left them by the couch. SD jumped into them as we were talking in the kitchen and proceeded to walk around. I just thought it was a cute moment, so I snapped a picture.

Salmon Festival

I am not exactly sure about this picture...I wasn't there for this one.

J, my Dad, W (family friend) took M, SD & SV to the Salmon festival where the food is fantastic and the fish are enormous. SD & SV are behind the enormous fish...they could watch them for hours.

There are enormous tanks at the fish hatchery that the girls couldn't get enough of. They even got to feed the fish too.

Of course there was entertainment, including some polynesian dancers who asked for volunteers to dance with them. SD was super excited about this opportunity and ran up. Then she promptly watched all the other volunteers dance. It was super funny.

SV was excited to dance at first too, but quickly panicked. It was sad because she turned to find us, but with the big crowd, she just burst into tears. This picture is of J trying to console her while my dad watched SD on stage.

Sorry for lack of blogging...

A friend of mine commented on her blog that she had the blogging blahs...I think it has been contagious. I have had it, mainly because I had too much to blog about.

I also received an incentive comment from a family member that I needed to update, so here is my start to catch up. Hope you enjoy! There will be more, but I am done for today. Recent posts start from the High School Reunion...Cont'd post in SEPTEMBER to present.

Pile of CARBS!!

For those that don't know, I have gestational diabetes. FUN, I know. When we were at Bavarian Hills, it was cheaper to get a schnitzel (chicken pounded flat coated in breading & spices) as a sandwich than by itself. I don't quite understand how, but I didn't set the prices.
ANYWAY, with the bread leftover (because the coating on the chicken was enough carbs...and the apple) and the girls' buns, I found this sight humorous. With the gestational diabetes, my diet is pretty strict...some carbs, but should only be good ones like fruit and some whole grains. This plate did not stand a chance to being eaten.

Apple Hill #4...Bavarian Hills

SV & SD always love these type of things where they look like silly people/animals when they put their head through. I didn't really realize what the picture was until after. Please note, I do NOT endorse plunging necklines and alcoholic beverage consumption to anyone, let alone my children. (c:
When the parents stepped in, this became even more funny.

The restaurant had authentic german music playing, to which SV is dancing. She danced the ENTIRE time she ate, before she ate and AFTER.

Opa licking his fingers after some good german food.

For the kid's meals they had hot dogs and apples with caramel. SV ate her apples, SD ate the caramel.

Apple #3...Kids Inc.

SV being silly!

Another try at fall pictures with the scarecrow. I know that there must be a reason why they have short attention spans...for now, I just wonder.

SD being cute with her little white pumpkins Oma bought her.

Oma, SV, SD & Opa headed to the van...again. The girls had a good snack of pie crust cookies, although, Oma's are definitely better!

Apple Hill #2...Larsen Apple Barn

Larsen's Apple Barn, a favorite from this year, has great apples...we got Winesap & Granny Smith as well as some pears. The girls convinced Oma to take a closer look at the water wheel they had.

Oma was explaining how a water wheel worked as the girls gazed intently. They would have watched it for a while, but we needed to get the apples.

Of course, another sidetrack that just made me laugh. The girls heard water running beneath the grate, so we had to inspect as we headed back across the parking lot.

Finally, off to the store area to get those apples and pears with Opa

I found another favorite pumpkin picture...it was actually from Plubell's, not Larsen Apple Barn.

Apple Hill #1...Plubell's

A short trip into the hills allows us the opportunity to experience the wonders of a place called Apple Hill. There are more than 2 dozen "farms" that sell apples, crafty things, have fun things for the kids, etc. We have a couple of favorites (from last year and this year), like Plubell's where they have animals to feed, a tire swing to ride, pumpkins, gourds, & apples to buy. The girls liked touching the "warty" gourds. Oma purchased a unique one to display with her others.

There was a friendly goat who liked Oma...it made us laugh for a while, and hoped that she wouldn't have a headache too.

SV was helping SD on the tire swing. They were so brave considering how high it swung. One of those times when I underestimated my girls and their strength. Both SD & SV rode it more than once.

Opa and SV found a couple of pigs in a pen that was out of the way. The pigs weren't there last year, but a highlight for SV. They did stink though.

I was trying to get a good picture with SV and a pumpkin, so this was one of the best!!
